The third year of The Mason Jar is showing growth with a total of 20 students participating in this project-based class. Three volumes of this student-produced news are planned for release beginning the week of May 11 and then continuing every two weeks until the end of the school year.
One of the good problems of more students participating is that more articles are being published in each volume. However, it does make it a little more difficult to find an article from each volume. The trick to finding all articles is to click on the Older Posts button found in the lower left corner of the volume home page.
Another option is to scan the articles by subject area, and this is another improvement from last year. The publication has added categories such as “Life Beyond High School” to give a perspective on activities students participate in outside of school, “Advice” to provide ideas that help students in their everyday lives, and “Opinions” is a format for students to express their ideas.
Finally, “Music, Art, and Talent” is a combined topic of all types of students’ cultural expressions. You’ll want to check out the most recent article about the state award winning Forensics program in Volume VI!
Looking ahead the next volumes will contain reports on traditional end of the year activities including graduation and student council awards plus new creative writing features. We look forward to entertaining and informing our school friends and families.
